Individual & Family Health

Medical coverage is not one-size-fits-all. The right path depends on eligibility, household income, enrollment timing, doctors, prescriptions and preferred cost structure.

Marketplace / ACA plans

Comprehensive major medical plans offered through a federal or state Marketplace. Premium tax credits may be available for eligible households.

Consider: subsidy eligibility + provider network

Off-Marketplace plans

ACA-compliant individual coverage purchased outside the public Marketplace. These plans do not use Marketplace premium tax credits.

Consider: carrier options + full premium

Special Enrollment Periods

Certain life events—such as losing qualifying coverage, moving, marriage or birth—may allow enrollment outside annual Open Enrollment.

Consider: event type + documentation + deadline

HSA-compatible coverage

Eligible high-deductible health plans may be paired with a Health Savings Account, subject to federal eligibility and contribution rules.

Consider: tax strategy + expected care use
i

Premiums, tax-credit eligibility, provider participation and prescription coverage must be verified for the applicant and service area. No savings or eligibility outcome is guaranteed.

Standardized private insurance that helps pay certain costs left by Original Medicare. It generally does not include outpatient prescription drug coverage.

Review: eligibility + underwriting + premium

Part D prescription drug plans

Stand-alone private plans that add outpatient drug coverage to Original Medicare. Formularies, pharmacy networks and costs vary by plan.

Review: exact medications + preferred pharmacy

Original Medicare context

Part A generally covers inpatient hospital care and Part B generally covers outpatient medical services. It does not cap annual out-of-pocket costs by itself.

Review: fee schedule + balance billing

Preventive, basic & major care

Short-Term Medical

Short-term medical insurance is temporary, medically underwritten coverage intended for certain gaps. It is not ACA-compliant comprehensive major medical insurance.

Coverage transitions

May be considered during eligible gaps such as a job change, waiting period or other temporary transition when permitted by state law.

Review: start date + expected gap length

Medical underwriting

Applications generally include health questions. Pre-existing conditions may be excluded and approval is not guaranteed.

Review: eligibility + exclusions

Benefit limitations

Plans may exclude or limit services such as prescriptions, maternity, preventive care, mental health or other essential health benefits.

Review: exclusions + benefit maximums

Duration & renewability

Available terms, maximum duration and renewal rules depend on federal requirements, state rules and carrier offerings.

Review: termination date + next coverage
!

Important: Short-term coverage may not cover pre-existing conditions or all essential health benefits and may impose dollar limits. It should be compared with available comprehensive coverage.

We can help review the tradeoffs, exclusions and timing before you decide whether temporary coverage fits the gap.

Employer benefits explorer

Small Business & Group

A benefits strategy should reflect workforce size, locations, participation, budget and administrative capacity—not just the monthly rate.

Fully insured group health

The employer pays a fixed premium to an insurer, which assumes covered claims risk subject to the policy terms.

Review: contribution + participation + network

Level-funded arrangements

A funding approach that combines fixed monthly payments with claims funding and stop-loss protection. Suitability and risk differ from fully insured coverage.

Review: risk + reconciliation + stop loss

Dental, vision & ancillary

Employers may add voluntary or employer-paid dental, vision, life, disability and supplemental benefits where available.

Review: employer-paid vs. voluntary

PEO and HR solutions

Some businesses consider professional employer organizations or bundled HR arrangements that may combine benefits with payroll and compliance support.

Review: fees + control + contract terms
i

Group eligibility, contribution and participation requirements vary. Level-funded arrangements can involve additional risk and contract obligations that should be reviewed carefully.

For an initial review, prepare employee ZIP codes, ages, coverage tiers, current benefits, renewal date and employer contribution strategy.

Life & Supplemental

Explore insurance products for protection, long-term accumulation and income planning. These are not substitutes for comprehensive medical coverage, and life insurance and annuity products are handled separately from Medicare sales appointments.

Term life insurance

Coverage for a selected term that may help address income replacement, debts, education funding or other temporary protection needs.

Review: amount + term + conversion options

Permanent life insurance

Coverage designed to remain in force when required premiums are paid and policy conditions are met; some policies may accumulate cash value.

Review: guarantees + costs + objectives

Indexed Universal Life (IUL)

Permanent life insurance with a death benefit and cash value. Interest-crediting potential is linked in part to an external market index; policy funds are not invested directly in that index.

Review: illustration + funding + caps + charges

Fixed & Indexed Annuities

Insurance contracts that may support long-term accumulation or a future income stream. Crediting methods, guarantees, riders, surrender schedules and access to funds vary by contract.

Review: objectives + liquidity + contract terms

Accident & hospital indemnity

Limited-benefit products that pay specified benefits for covered accidents, hospital stays or services, subject to policy terms.

Review: benefit schedule + exclusions

Critical illness & disability

Coverage may provide specified benefits after a covered diagnosis or help replace a portion of income following a qualifying disability.

Review: definitions + waiting periods + limits
!

IUL crediting is affected by caps, participation rates, spreads and policy charges, and non-guaranteed values can vary. Annuities are long-term products that may include surrender charges and withdrawal restrictions. Product guarantees depend on the issuing insurer’s claims-paying ability. These products are not bank deposits and are not FDIC insured. Review the carrier illustration or contract before purchasing.

Common questions

Before we get started.

Does Solomon Health Group represent more than one carrier?

Yes. Solomon Health Group is an independent insurance agency with access to products from multiple carriers. The specific carriers and plans available depend on product type, state, service area, eligibility and the agency’s appointments.

Is scheduling a consultation an agreement to enroll?

No. Requesting information or scheduling a consultation does not obligate you to enroll in a plan and does not affect your current or future Medicare enrollment status.

Can Medicare and life insurance be discussed in the same appointment?

Medicare marketing appointments are limited to the health product types agreed to in advance. Non-health products such as life insurance and annuities are not marketed during a Medicare sales appointment. A separate conversation can be scheduled where permitted.

Let’s make your next coverage decision clearer.
